The Truth about naturally Slim People

Is it about control?

Some people believe that 'naturally' slim people are that way because they weigh themselves everyday and just won't allow themselves to gain weight. If they step on the scales and see an increase of 2lb they will automatically take corrective action. By being this way, these people do maintain a steady healthy weight. However, there's nothing natural about it! They are actively controlling their weight, and if they are weighing themselves on a daily basis, that control is obsessive.

A healthy attitude to food and life?

The truth about 'naturally' slim people is that they do not obsess about food. Let me be clear here, it is not the case that they do not obsess about food because they don't need to. What I'm saying is that the fact that they don't obsess about food, is the reason why they are slim! A naturally slim person can eat that cream bun without putting on weight because it is unlikely they will be eating another one any time soon! If the cream bun is offered to them by another person, they may well save it for later if they are not hungry at the time. If they bought it themselves, they probably only got the idea whilst passing the cake shop and bought it on impulse. It is also likely that they will eat a lighter meal when the time comes because they won't 'fancy' anything heavier.

A 'naturally' slim person will eat when they are hungry and then get on with living their life. Most naturally slim people are also active and energetic. I don't necessarily mean that they are always at the Gym; just that they are always doing something. Naturally slim people occupy their hands as well as their minds with activity - they do not simply occupy their minds by obsessing about food or anything else. An over-weight person will often have food on the brain! Prior to a meal the over-weight person will be anticipating what they are going to have, how it is going to taste, when they are going to cook it, and quite possibly, what they are going to have after they have eaten it! All too often, an over-weight person will be planning what they are going to have for their tea whilst in the process of eating their lunch! If this sounds familiar, there is hope!

Over-eating satisfies a psychological need

The beautiful truth is that there is a 'naturally' slim person inside all of us. Over-eating is not normal behaviour for human beings, although it has been 'normalised' in Western society to the point that over-weight women are often referred to as 'real women', (much to the detriment of slim women who do not routinely eat more than they need). Over-eating is an acquired habit which serves a purpose - even if our conscious mind is completely baffled by what that purpose could possibly be. This tendency to over-eat is further facilitated by the fact that we in the western world have an abundance of food which is easily accessible to us 24/7 and we have the funds to go out and buy it.

Eating is about survival

Human beings require food for survival. In order to protect us, the good stuff tastes and smells appetising, whilst that which is poisonous to us tastes nasty. Our bodies are also finely tuned to desire those foods which contain what we require at any given time, e.g. salt and water. However, this desire is not the same as an emotional craving which we are aware of as an 'I want and I've got to have' thought, rather than an 'I need' feeling.

Hypnotherapy can help you to rediscover the naturally slim person you were always intended to be. Remember, over-eating is NOT normal behaviour. The natural order is that we eat in order to live - eating is about survival. 'Living to eat' is not the way we were meant to be, and is not the basis for a full, active and most importantly, happy life.

Weight Control One to One Consultation

We also offer 'one to one' sessions at a cost of £50 per hour with a free initial 20 minute consultation. The 'One to One' programme will entail at least two sessions, and usually more. That is because this approach is tailored towards you personally and involves a more detailed exploration into the forces which drive your eating behaviours.

The C.D. and booklet mentioned above is provided free to clients who attend 'One to One' sessions. However, we would recommend that the 'home kit' be tried first as for many people this is enough to enable them to re-claim control of their eating behaviours. Should you believe that you would benefit from the 'One to One' sessions having tried the 'home kit', a discount of £25 is offered against the cost of the first session.
