4. How does Hypnosis Work?
Hypnosis induces the natural ‘trance’ state in order to access the subconscious mind with a view to achieving a person’s therapeutic outcomes. By re-training the sub-conscious mind it is possible to correct and/or alleviate a person’s pain in the present.
Trance is usually induced through a guided process of relaxation. A therapist may utilise a variety of methods such as, storytelling, visualisation and straight-forward suggestion in order to enable the sub-conscious mind to recognise a new more positive reality.
