Choosing a Hypnotherapist
Helping you select the ideal Hypnotherapist Nottingham
We advise you to consider the following information before selecting a Hypnotherapist in Nottingham.
Professional Body
If you’re looking for a hypnotherapist in Nottingham, you’ll soon find that there are quite a few of us! So how do you choose the right therapist for you? At Renew, we aim to be transparent and honest and to be your first choice selecting a Hypnotherapist Nottingham.
The most important check to make prior to making an appointment is that your prospective therapist is a member of a professional body.
Hypnotherapist Nottingham Liz suggests the below Organisations:
- The National Council for Hypnotherapy www.hypnotherapists.org.uk
- The Hypnotherapy Association www.thehypnotherapyassociation.co.uk
- The UK Register of hypnotherapists www.general-hypnotherapy-register.com

At present, hypnotherapist's are not required to be regulated by law – regulation is purely voluntary. Thus, it is possible to ‘train’ as a hypnotherapist, by enrolling on a correspondence course, that involves no practical training whatsoever, and still obtain a certificate.
The above organisations all have minimum training and ‘proof of competence’ requirements prior to accepting any member as a hypnotherapist. They also have codes of conduct which they require their members to abide by and complaints procedures should you be un-happy with the service you receive.
Experience
All qualified hypnotherapists receive training to work with a myriad of different problems, but it may be worth looking for a hypnotherapist who specialises in treating your specific problem. Where a therapist states a specialism it is usually because they have a particular interest in that issue and will often have undertaken further study or reading to enable them to offer the best service possible.
NB. If your therapist is in doubt as to whether they can assist you, they should inform you of this as soon as they are aware of it. Ideally if possible, the therapist should recommend another therapist who they believe would be best suited to meeting your needs.
Rapport
Therapy is personal and it is about YOU. The initial consultation often does not involve any actual therapy; it is an opportunity for client and therapist to meet, for your history to be taken, and for your needs and possible treatment options to be discussed. Many therapists charge for this initial consultation, but equally, many do not. Take advantage where the option is made for a free initial consultation; it presents you with an ideal opportunity to meet with the therapist and decide if they are right for you, without being committed.
During your initial consultation, take note of how you feel in the company of your therapist. Ideally you should feel completely comfortable with them. For you to get the best out of therapy, you need to be able to confide in your therapist. Reluctance to ‘open up’ during therapy will hinder your progress so it is important that you feel able to trust your therapist and are comfortable in their presence. You should never feel judged or inadequate. Your therapist is there to assist you in finding a way to feel better and improve the quality of your life, not to add to whatever problems you may have.
Qualified Hypnotherapist Nottingham Liz Anderson will be happy to discuss this in detail. Feel free to contact Liz on 0115 9206005.

Anything which holds you back and prevents you from reaching your full potential is an obstacle for you to navigate. Life is full of choices and littered with potential obstacles, but we don´t have to be bound by them. We have the power to choose how we feel, to change how we feel and to create our own reality, but sometimes we have to learn how to do this.
You can choose to see an obstacle as a mountain or a boulder. You can choose to be courageous or you can choose to hide. Whatever you choose, choices have consequences. Hiding will shield you from pain, but can prevent you from growing and progressing over time.
Your sub-conscious mind has a mission to protect you, but sometimes its methods can be counter-productive. Hypnotherapy can assist you in creating positive change by accessing your sub-conscious mind and assisting it to find alternative ways of achieving its positive aims.
